David M. Perry, DDS
Dr. David Perry has been one of the East Bay's most active and trusted pediatric dentists for over 30 years. A proud Cal alum, he completed his undergraduate education at UC Berkeley and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of California San Francisco. He continued his specialty training at UCSF and received his certificate in pediatric dentistry in 1973. His notable career began with his decision to come to Alameda to practice pediatric dentistry. Over the years, Dr. Perry has designed and built the premier children’s dental office now known as Alameda Pediatric Dentistry. Community leader, child advocate, and philanthropist, Dr. Perry has held numerous leadership positions at all levels of county, state and national dental organizations. He has served as president of the Alameda County Dental Society, president of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Trustee of the California Dental Association and numerous other positions.
Dr. Perry currently serves as the Chairperson of The Dental Health Foundation, and in that capacity, leads a consortium of nationally recognized experts on dental health related issues. He has recently completed the prestigious two-year California Health Care Foundation Fellowship and continues to strive for effective vision and leadership of the community health care system. Dr. Perry is on staff at Oakland Children’s Hospital and has access and privileges to perform hospital dentistry at that facility. Always a positive role model, Dr. Perry enjoys being a mentor and associate clinical professor to the pediatric dental residents of UCSF School of Dentistry as well as to countless other dental professionals.
Sharine V. Thenard, DDS, MS
Dr. Sharine Thenard is proud to be a part of the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team. An Alameda native, she grew up on the island and was even a patient of this dental practice many years ago. After attending St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High School, she completed her Bachelor of Science at UC Davis. Dr. Thenard attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, where she was heavily involved in children’s oral health promotion and screening and also served as student body president. After dental school, Dr. Thenard went to Columbus, Ohio to the Columbus Children’s Hospital to complete a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry. While in Ohio, she also earned her Master of Science from The Ohio State University.
In addition to providing outstanding dental services to our pediatric community, she also teaches at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, where she has been on faculty since 2005. Dr. Thenard is heavily involved in multiple dental organizations. She enjoys interacting with her colleagues and representing the needs of children as well as dentists on local, state, and national levels. She is Past President of the Alameda County Dental Society and is currently a Trustee for the California Dental Association. Additionally, she is Secretary for the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Thenard is committed to continual learning. She has been board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 2006, and she stays up to date on the latest dental research and techniques. She is on staff at Oakland Children’s Hospital and has access and privileges to perform hospital dentistry at their locations.
Dr. Thenard spends her time with her wonderful husband, Zack, and her cuddly labradoodle, Kona. She loves to travel, read, and explore local events and activities. You may also occasionally see her riding her bike or jogging along the beach in Alameda.
MyLinh Ngo, DMD
Dr. MyLinh Ngo spent her childhood growing up in sunny San Diego and has lived in the Bay Area for the past seven years. She completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry and did research for her Master’s degree in Orofacial Sciences. She received her dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. She majored in molecular and developmental biology at UCLA, which sparked her interest in academics and laboratory research. She is devoted to prenatal oral health issues and finding preventive adjuncts to help combat cavities before they start.
Dr. Ngo is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF, teaching the pre-doctoral dental students every week. In her spare time, she loves swimming, playing the piano, and baking. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Alameda County Dental Society. We are glad she has made Alameda her home and welcome her to our practice.
Binita Katheria, DDS, MS
Dr. Katheria grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Dentistry for her dental training where she fell in love with pediatric dentistry while volunteering abroad in India and Guatemala. She completed her specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she also received a Master of Science degree in Dentistry. In October 2009, she moved from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.
Adam Shaffer, DDS, MS
Dr. Adam Shaffer is an Alameda native and used to be a patient here when he was young! He earned his dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2009. While in Los Angeles, he actively participated in numerous dental outreach projects and was the research chair for the UCLA Student Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
Dr. Shaffer continued his studies at the UCSF School of Dentistry, where he pursued advanced education and training in pediatric dentistry and obtained a masters degree in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. He is trained in oral sedation techniques and conducted his thesis around physiological responses and outcomes of sedation.
Dr. Shaffer has also worked to improve oral health abroad, providing dental care to underserved communities in Honduras while at UCLA, and in Fiji while at UCSF.
An avid sports fan, Dr. Shaffer was also a member of UC Berkeley’s Division I NCAA cross country and track teams.
Keith Gronbach, DDS
Dr. Gronbach is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He did his undergraduate studies at The University of California. He then spent a total of eight years in Ann Arbor, Michigan earning his doctorate (D.D.S.) and receiving specialized training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan Health System. He was the President of the Contra Costa Dental Society and has been in practice for over 10 years. In his personal time, Dr. Gronbach enjoys time with his family, traveling, and dining out. Dr. Gronbach is married to another dentist, Dr. Jennifer Gronbach. They have a five-year old son named Benjamin.
